I’m going to do an occasional series where I simply put up scanned images of evangelistic tracts. I’m not going to comment on them in the actually post itself! Here’s the first, called Last Rites which has an obvious target audience and is from Chick Publications.

So, are you saying that is a good or bad tract? Or is it that you would prefer a more multi media tract? I guess we could make a short film of it…

What a beast! Not sure if I like it just cos it’s scathing or what.
Question, it’s very vouge to be nicey nicey about this sort of think, but what would Jesus do? Well He’d slam them for their religion. Where’s the love? Well where’s the love in allowing someone to carry on with certain religious nonsense. “Oh, but Jesus could, He is God.”
Okay, so what about Paul, would he have hugged the heresy out of them? Not sure about that, if the heresy was to do with circumsician probably not!
Am I the only one that was terrified by that? As someone who has a tendency toward religion myself - where my default is ’salvation by works’ not ‘faith’ - I found it chilling.
Of course Jesus would be harsh, but he also had a depth of understanding about what he was warning the religious about that we simply don’t have.
Do I think it’s a good tract? I think it’s led me to repententing of my religion. Job well done?
